In Diné (Navajo) thought, straight
lines are associated with inactivity or maleness, while curved lines
correspond to activity or femaleness. Each is a complement of the other and in the design of
the bracelet they form a perfectly balanced whole. Balance and harmony are important parts of
the Diné (Navajo) concept of hozho.
