First published in 1890, The Picture of Dorian Gray is Oscar Wilde's only novel, a partly autobiographical Faustian myth about a handsome youth whose beauty never fades, but whose soul becomes uglier and uglier as the years pass. The only clue to his secret pact with the devil is the progressive corruption of his portrait. This classic tale of conflict between good and evil, innocence and temptation is here presented as a working script for the stage with Dine's original illustrations and notes on the text.
