Jar with Flared Mouth
Title:Jar with Flared Mouth
Artist:Chi-Chia
Date:c. 2000 B.C.
Creation Place:, China
Credit Line:Gift of Ruth and Bruce Dayton, by exchange
Accession Number:2003.172
This large jar is typical of the orange clay used by the Ch'i-chia culture to make their thin walled, hand built vessels. Most ch'i-chia wares are unadorned like this one and they are usually well proportioned, carefully finished vessels that are occasionally burnished.
