Tzedakah (justice or charity), the practice of giving assistance to the poor, is one of the oldest and most sacred Jewisth traditions. This charity is given anonymously by placing money in a special tzedakah box. Tzedakah boxes are found in the home as well as at synagogues, cemeteries, and other public places.
