In 1919, Karl Peter Röhl enrolled at the Bauhaus as an advanced student and assistant teacher. By 1921, he had become friends with Theo van Doesburg, the founder of Dutch De Stijl, and El Lissitzky, a Russian Constructivist, both of whom influenced his artistic development. In this drawing, Röhl has reduced his design to a minimum, creating a spare geometrical composition with each element carefully balanced.
