Camille
Fauré
French, 1872 - 1944 Vase, c. 1925 H. 12 x W. 7 in. | ||

Enamelwares are made by fusing enamel (pulverized glass mixed with chemicals) to a metal backing at very high temperatures. Camille Fauré, who worked in Limoges for more than fifty years, was a consummate craftsman of enameling techniques. Using various colored enamels, he achieved unusual surfaces and hues, as can be seen in the low- and medium-relief patterns on this vase.
