The Bring Art to Life Campaign is a bold initiative designed to raise $100 million dollars for The Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The campaign will fund the museum's building expansion and art acquisition endowment.
The Institute's 113,000 square foot wing, designed by architect Michael Graves, is the culmination of dreams and building plans charted by the Board of Trustees fifteen years ago. This project includes:
- Thirty-one new galleries that add forty percent more exhibit space;
- New galleries to display art currently in storage;
- New and renovated galleries to attract future gifts of collections and masterpiece works of art;
- Major renovation within the existing museum building, creating new gallery spaces in areas previously devoted to back-of-house activities;
- Increased accessibility to key educational programs for collectors, connoisseurs, and the public, with a new Lecture Hall and Photography Study Room joining the expanded Print Study Room and Art Research Library in a new visible location;
- A festive public opening held on June 11 2006.

The Institute's strategic plan calls for doubling the museum's art endowment to increase our purchasing power in a competitive international art market. Fifty million dollars in new endowment gifts will generate $2.5 million in revenue every year for great works of art.
- For the first time, all collection areas will have dedicated art-purchase funds, allowing growth across the whole collection.
- The next thirty years will bring unprecedented opportunities to acquire key works of art.
- Endowment funds are permanent and will significantly increase the Institute's buying power.
- The Institute will bring more world-class treasures to the Twin Cities to educate, inspire, and challenge visitors.
