Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA), Walker Art Center (WAC), and Christ Church Lutheran (CCL), Minneapolis, present this three-day symposium in conjunction with the University of Minnesota College of Design.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, October 10

• 7 p.m.—Lecture, "Rendezvous with the U: A Conversation with Balthazar Korab," in the U. of M. Bell Museum of Natural History Auditorium, 10 Church Street SE, Minneapolis, MN.

• 8:30 p.m.—Reception at Ralph Rapson Hall, 89 Church Street SE, Minneapolis, MN., sponsored by AIA Minnesota and the U. of M. College of Design.

Korab is an architect and photographer who worked with Le Corbusier before coming to the United States in 1955 to join Eero Saarinen and Associates, where he began experimenting with photography as part of the design development process. Korab is joined in conversation by John Comazzi, U. of M. assistant professor of architecture, who is currently working on a biography of Korab.

Saturday morning, October 11, at the MIA

• 9 a.m.—Conference sessions in Pillsbury Auditorium, and a welcome by Jennifer Komar Olivarez, associate curator at the MIA.

• 9:30 a.m.—Donald Albrecht, curator of architecture and design, Museum of the City of New York.

• 10:15 a.m.—Komar Olivarez

• 10:45 a.m.—Break

• 11 a.m., Eeva-Liisa Pelkonen, assistant professor, Yale School of Architecture

• 11:30 a.m.—Q and A with Albrecht, Komar Olivarez, and Pelkonen, moderated by Victoria Young, associate professor of architectural history, University of St. Thomas.

• 11:45 a.m.—Lunch in the Reception Hall, Target Wing.

Saturday afternoon, October 11, at the WAC

• 1 p.m.—Welcome by Andrew Blauvelt, design director, WAC

• 1:30 p.m.—Nancy Miller, associate director, Center for World Heritage Studies.

• 2 p.m.—Beatriz Colomina, professor of architecture, Princeton University

• 2:45 p.m.—Break

• 3 p.m.—Christopher Monkhouse, curator and department chair, Art Institute of Chicago

• 3:30 p.m.—Tom Fisher, dean of the U. of M. College of Design

• 4 p.m.—Reception

Sunday, October 12, at CCL

• 2 p.m.—Tour Christ Lutheran Church, 3244 34th Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN.

Kristine Carlson, pastor, will welcome attendees at the church. Ozayr Saloojee, U. of M. assistant professor of architecture, presents new research on CCL accompanied by an on-site exhibition.

• 2:40 p.m.—Timo Tuomi, head of research at the Museum of Finnish Architecture, Helsinki, will examine first-hand the collaborative effort of Saarinen & Saarinen, the father and son practice that produced one of the finest examples of modern ecclesiastical architecture.

• 3:30 p.m.—Reception
