SPECIAL EVENT Winterlights: Celebrating the Season Saturday, November 24, 20121 – 2 p.m. 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Museum-wide Experience the warmth of winter holidays celebrated around the world, such as Eid al-Adha, Bodhi Day, Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. View stunning objects that celebrate the triumph of light over darkness and lead us into the New Year. Hear stories of redemption, renewal, and regeneration. Docent-led tours every day at 1 p.m.; weekends at 1 and 2:30 p.m.; and Thursdays at 7 p.m. DAILY PUBLIC TOUR Winterlights at the Purcell-Cutts House Saturday, November 24, 201210:30 – 11:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Designed by William Purcell and George Elmslie in 1913, the Prairie School-style Purcell-Cutts House will be decorated for the holidays to reflect the upper-middle-class, progressive lifestyle of the Purcells around 1915. Forty-five minute tours led by costumed docents will emphasize the gifts, toys, food and social traditions of the period that the Purcells might have enjoyed.
