A Report from the Field: Recent Finds in the First Emperor's Tomb Complex

Three Chinese archaeologists from the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum and Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology will present the most updated reports on the recent archaeological excavations associated with the First Emperor's burial, his capital Xianyang, and other sites in Shaanxi. Presentations in Chinese with English translations.

Admission: $10; $5 for MIA members; free for members of the Asian Art Affinity Group.

Liu Yang, curator of Chinese art and head of the Asian Art Department at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, welcomes the official Chinese delegation and Chen Changkui, deputy director general of Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, on the occasion of the MIA's exhibition "China?s Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor?s Legacy." The exhibition offers Minnesotans a rare opportunity to view treasures from one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of our time, drawn from more than 13 institutions in China, including the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses, the Shaanxi Provincial Archaeological Institute, and the Shaanxi History Museum. The MIA invites the public to meet Chinese officials and scholars visiting Minnesota.

Free, no reservations required.
