YOUTH PROGRAM F5 Play with Clay (ages 4 & 5) Saturdays, November 3, 10 & 1710:30 a.m. – Noon Studio 111 Dig in and get your hands dirty! Clay is the order of the day on visits to "China's Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor's Legacy" and in the studio.
IN THE GALLERIES See super-sized clay sculptures on visits to "China's Terracotta Warriors." Discover dozens of ways clay is used for eating and drinking, in sculpture, and much more. Explore the MIA's Chinese galleries for a glimpse into the world of the First Emperor.
IN THE STUDIO Dig in and experiment as we pinch and coil clay. Refine and decorate your clay creation to make a one-of-a-kind work of art. Work together to build a monumental masterpiece inspired by this ancient army.

Discover its long history around the world as a material to create objects for daily use, special occasions, and more.
IN THE GALLERIES Immerse yourself in the special exhibition, "China's Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor's Legacy," to study the complex construction and attention to detail. Explore the use of terracotta around the world from the ancient past to present day. Sketch ideas for your own creative clay work back in the studio.
IN THE STUDIO Create preparatory sketches and a scale model for a finished work. Try the tools and materials of a ceramist, using both additive and subtractive methods. Collaborate with classmates to create a work of art that leaves a lasting impression.
