Sketching in the Galleries: Representing Three-Dimensional Form through Chinese Objects

Chinese objects from the MIA's permanent collection present a great opportunity for the translation of three-dimensional form to the two-dimensional flat sheet of paper. This class will discuss the value scale and explore its application in the process of creating implied volume and mass in a drawing. The classroom presentation will include viewing a selection of the museum's Chinese objects.
