YOUTH PROGRAM "Rembrandt in America" Double Feature (sec. S16, ages 9-12) Two weeks, Monday through Friday, July 9-20, 20129:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Studios Instructor: Christopher Bowman
Let's dive into two weeks of intensive art-making, inspired by an extraordinary exhibition of paintings by one of the world's most renowned artists!
IN THE GALLERIES Relish this rare opportunity to see paintings by Rembrandt on view here from public and private U.S. collections. Discover artworks by Rembrandt's contemporaries or artists inspired by his vision and style. See how Rembrandt brought out the personalities and personal stories of his subjects. IN THE STUDIO Week 1: Drawing Week 2: Painting Experiment with a variety of art tools like those used by Rembrandt. Try out some of the drawing and painting techniques that made Rembrandt famous. MATERIALS Charcoal, conté crayons, graphite pencil, ink, gouache, acrylic paint, stretched canvas.
