The Black Pirate

Original musical accompaniment by Daniel Lloyd.

Douglas Fairbanks laid the groundwork for future swashbuckling pirate movies in this film. The 1926 high-seas caper stars Fairbanks as a man of noble blood who goes undercover on a pirate ship to avenge his father's death. One of the earliest moving pictures filmed in two-color Technicolor, The Black Pirate is famous for its action sequences and underwater images. Directed by Albert Parker, 1926, 94 minutes, not rated, silent with English intertitles. On DVD.

Try out a whole bunch of super-cool art materials.

Share your art with friends and family in a studio exhibit and reception.

Seek out works of art inspired by nature.

IN THE PARK

Explore Minneapolis parks through the eyes of an artist.

Take a closer look at flora and fauna in the museum's backyard.

Draw the natural world?in summer's full bloom?from direct observation.

Graphite pencils, colored pencils, pastels, watercolors, markers, drawing paper.

IN THE STUDIO

Work with materials that change before your eyes and through exposure to sun, wind, and water.

Design your own temporary tattoos.

Make art that changes over time.
