Books share our lives more intimately than many works of art. Environmental conditions and handling can contribute to the preservation?or the deterioration?of books in private collections. Understanding those factors that can damage your books will help you improve the well-being of your library.
Clise is a staff member of the Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC) and a member of the American Institute for the Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works.
