The world-renowned Rose Ensemble presents a special concert of music from medieval and Renaissance France in connection with the special exhibition "The Mourners: Tomb Sculptures from the Court of Burgundy," on view at the MIA January 23 to April 17, 2011.
Hear deep, resonant choral music, intimate troubadour songs of love and loss, and heraldic courtly dances performed by the early wind consort Ensemble Collinetto. The Rose Ensemble will also debut a commission by Minnesota composer William Beckstrand.
Exhibition co-curator Erika Holmquist-Wall will discuss the tomb sculptures at 7 p.m. The concert will be accompanied by digital artist Ali Momeni's breathtaking display of images of the tomb sculptures projected against the interior walls of the church.
