Ask a Curator Day
On September 1, the MIA took part in the first-ever “Ask a Curator Day” on the social networking site Twitter. More than 300 curators from museums worldwide were available for a one-day question-and-answer session with members of the public using the Twitter hash tag #askacurator. The hash tag became a Twitter trend as one of the top topics in the world for September 1. The event was organized by museum marketing specialist Jim Richardson, who previously launched the popular “Follow a Museum Day” on Twitter in February to boost the public’s appreciation of arts and cultural institutions using the site. Below are highlights of questions posed to the MIA curators. Visit the #askacurator, and #askcurators search on Twitter to see more. And sign up to follow @artsmia on Twitter to get tweets about the museum and its collection. ![]() Here's a recap of the MIA's "Ask a Curator Day" tweets: FeministInti: #askcurators is there a workers union for curators? do female aspiring curators face discrimination in the workplace? 1:52pm, Sep 01 from Web artsmia: @FeministInti Most curators @artsmia are in civil workers union because we are on city parkland.
