Katherine Herberger did not set out to have one of the most significant collections of antique still and mechanical banks in the country, but at the time of her death in 2003, her collection included more than 1,000 examples. The Katherine Kierland Herberger Collection of Banks has now found a permanent home at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where a newly dedicated gallery on the ground floor between the Family Center and classrooms showcases the collection.

This selection from the Katherine Kierland Herberger Collection features toy banks made to look like their full-scale counterparts, real and imaginary savings and loans!
