Katherine Herberger did not set out to have one of the most significant collections of antique still and mechanical banks in the country, but at the time of her death in 2003, her collection included more than 1,000 examples. The Katherine Kierland Herberger Collection of Banks has now found a permanent home at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where a dedicated gallery on the ground floor between the Family Center and classrooms showcases the collection.
