Alexander Roslin and the Comtesse d'Egmont Pignatelli

Friday, August 29, 2008—Sunday, November 30, 2008
Cargill Gallery 103
Free Exhibition

This exhibition places our recent acquisition, Alexander Roslin's The Comtesse d'Egmont Pignatelli in Spanish Costume in a deeper art historical context. Supplementary works in paintings and sculpture explore the sitter's relationship to the artist, her ties to the French court of Louis XV and Swedish court of Gustav III, as well as her involvement with the intellectual and cultural circles of the French Salons.

This exhibition is made possible with support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Exhibitions Endowment Fund, and by an indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities.
