Free Exhibition
Ta-coumba Aiken’s exhibition is a celebration of creativity, painting and community. "Call and Response" is an expansive call to artists, children, community and museum visitors.
Besides creating many new paintings for his show, Aiken called upon many friends to collaborate with him. The show includes textiles made with Robin Taple, windows with Seitu Jones and William Slack, song paintings with Carey Thomas, and ceramics with Peter Jadoonath. The collaboration with Jadoonath is an interactive mosaic, allowing visitors to arrange shards of ceramic tiles to make their own collaborations with the artist.
Viewers' integrated responses show how working with others encourages inspiration and creates an expanded whole.
Opening reception: November 15 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Artist Talk: Thursday, November 29, at 7 p.m.
