On the Same Page: Artist’s Books New to the CollectionSaturday, December 2, 2006Sunday, May 20, 2007 Artist’s books emerged as an art form in the late nineteenth century, and have since become increasingly creative. The chance to interpret a favorite text with one's own vision is, for many artists, irresistible. The artist’s books exhibited here—spanning more than a century— commingle words and pictures on the same page, from Pierre Bonnard’s exquisitely daring Parallèlement to Donald Baechler’s quizzical Double Whammy. |
