U.S. Bank Gallery
Free Exhibition

Immerse yourself in the bold, luminous prints of this internationally acclaimed contemporary artist.

Sean Scully is a global artist best known for reviving abstract painting in the 1980s. Now an American citizen, Scully was born in Ireland and has made prints in professional workships in New York, Munich, Barcelona, and Tampere, Finland. His magnificent compositions resonate with personal reactions to the world around him. This exhibition includes etchings, aquatints, and woodcuts from the past 20 years, as well as recent lithographs.

The Smithsonian American Art Museum is the only institution in the country to own a master set of Scully's prints. This traveling exhibition provides a rare opportunity to view luminous graphic art by such an outstanding artist.

This exhibition is organized and circulated by the Smithsonian American Art Museum with support from Gisele Galante Broida, Don Brown, Ruth Holmberg, and Northfolk Southern Corporation. The exhibition’s tour is supported in part by the C. F. Foundation, Atlanta, and the William R. Kenan, Jr. Endowment Fund.

Presentation of this exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts is supported with a gift from an anonymous donor.
