Buildings to Bank On: Selections from the Katherine Kierland Herberger Collection of Banks

Gallery 110

Katherine Herberger did not set out to have one of the most significant collections of antique still and mechanical banks in the country, but at the time of her death in 2003, her collection included more than 1,300 examples. The Katherine Kierland Herberger Collection of Banks has now found a permanent home at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where a newly dedicated gallery on the ground floor between the Family Center and classrooms showcases rotating exhibitions of the collection. The first exhibition, titled "Buildings to Bank On: Selections from the Katherine Kierland Herberger Collection of Banks," features more than one hundred examples of architectural banks that are sure to delight visitors of all ages.
