This man's cotton hat with multi-colored embroidery may be a fulan from the Hausa culture. MAde from narrow strip-cloth, fulan are usually decorated with elaborate embroidery, whose various designs often refer to specific events or people. The Hausa are credited for introduing this style of hat throughout western Africa.
