Delaney based this evening snow scene on one of New York City's urban green
spaces, such as Washington Square or possibly, in this case, Central Park, where the forested
landscape is punctuated by street lamps, fire hydrants, and traffic lights. The charming scene
is also about the artist's fascination with the interplay between these various light sources
and the reflective surface of the snow.
