Third Thursday: Art Perchance
Thursday, August 18, 20116 p.m.Minneapolis Institute of ArtsPresented by the Friends of the Institute Warm up for the State Fair Midway with zany carnival games inspired by some of the MIA's best-loved artworks! It's all part of Art Perchance, the summer fund-raiser thrown by the Friends of the Institute to raise money for some very worthy causes. Play ten art-based carnival games; in true Third Thursday fashion, all games are free to play. Buy a $10 wristband, and each time you win a game you'll earn a chance to win great art donated for the event by outstanding local artists. Frolic to live music from Trailer Trash, enjoy cocktails at the cash bar, and have nonstop fun in the great outdoors of Target Park. Open to the public. Become an Art Perchance Patron!The Friends of the Institute provide financial support for major museum exhibitions, educational programming, buses for children to visit the MIA, and much more. Take the extra step and help the Friends continue their important work by becoming a patron of Art Perchance. As a patron, you'll meet the artists and view their art during a private pre-party reception from 5 to 6 p.m. Afterward, you'll have access to a VIP area featuring a buffet of gourmet fair treats. And there would be no art without our talented and generous artists and the galleries who promote artists by donating their art. Most participating artists are from the metro area; others are from greater Minnesota, and a few may be from here, there, and everywhere. The art comes ready to hang (or wear) and is created in a variety of mediums including oil, works on paper, sculpture, jewelry, and wood. |
