The Event:
Art Perchance You can’t help but be in a festive mood as calls of carnival barkers and gamers echo through the museum’s halls while guests snack on gourmet carnival food.

View more than 40 works of carefully selected, high-quality donated art, each of which will go home with a party guest. Play clever, easy, artist-designed carnival games. Each time you win, you’ll receive a ticket with your name on it. Drop it into the container next to an artwork you’d like to win. At evening’s end, a lucky name is drawn from each container, and the winners leave as proud owners of fabulous art!

Art Perchance The Artists:
2008 Participating Artists»
Art is at the heart of Art Perchance. And there would be no art without our talented and generous artists and the galleries who promote artists and donate their art. Most of the participating artists are from the metro area, others are from greater Minnesota, and works in the auction may be from here, there, and everywhere. The art is generally two-dimensional, ready to hang, and created in a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil, pen, photography, collage, etc. Sculpture and woodworking have also been well-represented in the past, and this year, for the first time, jewelry may join the lineup.

For those who don’t wish to leave their collecting up to chance, Art Perchance will feature a dazzling auction including works by noted artists Doug Argue, Richard Bresnahan, Megan Rye, and Alec Soth.

The Cause:
Art Perchance Art Perchance is the fall fundraiser of the Friends of the Institute. Funds raised by Art Perchance have been dedicated to a variety of causes supporting the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This year, proceeds will benefit the Friends Transportation Fund.

Over the years, the Friends Transportation Fund has sponsored busing for thousands of excited schoolchildren to visit the museum. Yet, it reaches only a fraction of the children whose schools want them to visit. With budget cuts and high bus costs, many schools can no longer afford to send children to the museum. Undeniably, the benefit to children of seeing and learning about museum-quality art is tremendous. For almost all of the children, the visit is their first to the MIA and is an experience that makes a major and lasting impression.

Help us greatly increase the number of children visiting the MIA!
